Anhad Kashmir is a community initiative in the Lolab valley, inspired by the vision and values of ANHAD — Act Now for Harmony and Democracy — democracy, secularism, communal harmony, gender equality and social justice.
Who we are
Two decades of showing up, in the villages that get reached last.
ANHAD was founded in 2003 to defend harmony and democratic values. Volunteers reached Kashmir within days of the October 2005 earthquake and stayed — running women's empowerment centres, youth clubs, tuitions and the valley's first computer centres in more than thirty villages of Tangdhar and Uri.
Today that work continues from the Anhad Community Resource Centre near Panchayat Ghar, Khumriyal, in the Lolab valley of Kupwara.
